CAD Designer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software to create models and drawings of new parts, jigs and tools.
  • Use Autodesk Fusion360 CAM software to create CNC programs for welding jigs and forming dies.
  • Confer with management, production and customer to identify part specifications, production capabilities, and other information relevant to new part design.
  • Monitor prototype and tooling production and troubleshoot production process, and/or design issues and correct problem areas before putting part into production.
  • Use Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software to create models and drawings of checking fixtures.
  • Train production staff on use of checking aids once aid has been proved valid and reliable.
  • Create CAD models and drawings of existing parts based on customer drawings, samples or hand sketches for internal use.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and/or formulas for management, engineering staff, and/or production staff.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Assist production personnel with developing production processes for new parts that promote efficiency and adherence to specification
