Senior Accountant

Experience Requirements

Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Awareness of business trends
Familiarity with financial accounting statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks
Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills

Education Requirements

Minimum Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably Accounting or Finance.
CPA (Preferred)
Managerial: 3 years (Preferred)
Manufacturing: 3 years (Preferred)
Finance/Accounting: 5 years (Required)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that company assets & liabilities are effectively managed and controlled (including suppliers, salaries, bank accounts, etc.)
  • Managing the monthly accounting close process including the preparation of monthly financial statements, management reporting and analysis.
  • Managing all day to day accounting functions including billing, accounts receivable, collections and accounts payable.
  • Evaluating, improving, designing and implementing internal controls.
  • Implementing measures to reduce costs and improve overall profitability.
  • Ensure all payrolls are processed timely and accurately based on the established deadline 3 facilities.
  • Complies with legal requirements by staying current on new payroll legislation and implementing necessary changes.
  • Ensures that all-time corrections, W-2’s, manual checks, and garnishments are processed in a timely manner by meeting all established deadlines.
  • Month-End Close (Producing and Analyzing Financial Statements)
  • Work with external auditors to verify financial reports
  • Strategically provides continuous improvements to the payroll process by analyzing payroll and shared service trends
  • May have a direct report and perform a limited range of managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning and directing work and performance management;
  • Flexibility with working hours during heavy deadline periods
