Metal Fabrication Project Estimator

Experience Requirements

Previous experience with metal fabrication operations, manufacturing estimating, quoting, blueprint reading, or related production processes is strongly preferred.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. A technical degree, associate degree, or other relevant postsecondary education is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Process quote requests from current and potential customers and return completed quotations on time.
• Review customer prints, 3D models, specifications, work instructions, and other project information.
• Determine whether proposed projects align with Wald Wire’s production capabilities and available tooling.
• Develop detailed cost estimates covering materials, labor, operation time, tooling, and outside processing.
• Ensure quotations account for all necessary production processes and customer quality requirements.
• Evaluate projects for overall business fit and identify complex production needs.
• Communicate with internal departments and outside suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and project information.
• Follow supplier-related procedures in accordance with applicable ISO standards.
• Provide troubleshooting and process-improvement ideas to support continued departmental growth.
• Maintain organized and accurate records.
• Maintain regular and timely attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Wald Wire management.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product drawings, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, capabilities, and equipment.
• Strong mathematical and Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize assignments, manage multiple quote requests, and adapt to changing deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confident problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with production, management, customers, and suppliers.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, FTP sites, cloud-based systems, or business-processing software is preferred.
