Plant Manager – Witzel Ave Location

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plant Operations

  • Direct the daily workflow and production activities of the facility.
  • Oversee production schedules and employee staffing schedules.
  • Organize work areas and processes to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Delegate responsibilities across the plant and administrative team.
  • Ensure work and storage areas remain clean, organized, and free of unnecessary clutter.
  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor and Human Resources regarding staffing needs, recruitment, employee retention, performance concerns, and corrective action.

Equipment and Facility Management

  • Oversee the condition and use of the physical plant, machinery, and equipment.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure it remains in safe and reliable working condition.
  • Evaluate current and future equipment needs based on production requirements.
  • Consult with the President and Director of Operations regarding significant equipment or facility investments.

Financial and Performance Management

  • Manage plant expenses, including operational, maintenance, labor, and administrative costs.
  • Monitor financial and operational information to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and present reports regarding plant activities, expenses, budgets, and overall performance.
  • Confer with senior leadership regarding major purchases and operational investments.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to:
    • Scrap and rework costs
    • On-time delivery
    • Customer quality and satisfaction
    • Productivity
    • Labor efficiency

Quality and Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a facility-wide culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Implement and support Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.
  • Plan, organize, and lead Kaizen events.
  • Teach and reinforce Lean and Six Sigma principles with employees.
  • Create and maintain processes that support ISO compliance.
  • Use value stream mapping and other improvement tools to identify waste and improve operational performance.

Safety Leadership

  • Promote a workplace culture where safety is consistently prioritized.
  • Assist with developing workplace safety procedures and documentation.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and ensure employees follow PPE requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to modify workflows or production processes to reduce injuries and illnesses.
  • Serve as the first line of response when workplace injuries or illnesses occur.
  • Partner with management and Human Resources to address safety concerns and support corrective action.

People and Culture

  • Lead employees with professionalism, consistency, emotional maturity, and respect.
  • Build a workplace culture based on the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and cooperation within the facility.
  • Communicate with employees and leaders in a way that encourages unity among all Wald Wire locations.
  • Share ideas, processes, and best practices with management across facilities.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Company President or other members of management.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of manufacturing management or comparable operational leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing production, staffing, safety, quality, and facility operations.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher.
  • Experience planning and leading Kaizen events.
  • Ability to create and use value stream maps.
  • Ability to develop and interpret operational and financial performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with manufacturing or enterprise resource planning systems is preferred.
  • Experience supporting ISO-compliant quality systems is strongly preferred.
